I believe in the power of creating an existence that we love. I believe we can shift our energy, our thoughts, and our intentions to best serve our core desires. If we have certain privileges, this might come easier. But the practice is still accessible to anyone who wants to explore it.
“I believe you can speak things into existence.”
Manifestation starts with deeply connecting to ourselves, developing a sense of trust in the universe, and then working to make things - those things that are aligned with our flow and true to our core selves - happen. Connection, action, trust.
What do you want? Not what should you want, not what does society/family/friends want for you, not what does your ego wants - but what do you want? To answer this question, you have to know yourself. You have to be connected to yourself - purely, deeply, authentically. You have to let go of a lot of things. It’s really, really hard. I’m not fully there yet.
Throughout my life, there were many things I thought I wanted, because they were things I was supposed to want, or they were things that people would admire me for having. Often, I really did want them at first. I thought I wanted the corporate job at a high-potential startup - until it left me crying after work each day. I thought I wanted to teach yoga at a popular studio - until I felt so disconnected from the space that I didn’t attend any of the free classes I was offered. These experiences don’t mean I was wrong for trying; they simply mean it’s okay to walk away from things that don’t speak to our core selves. We have a certain life flow, and not everything will align. That is okay.

Connection is key. You can’t have clarity about your vision if you don’t understand what it is you really want, and you can’t understand what you really want until you know who you really are.
How do you know who you really are? That’s up to you. Do yoga. Meditate. Take a hike or lots of hikes. Journal. Talk to a friend or a therapist. Figure out your values. Reflect and be brutally honest. Let go of fear. Get out of your mind and into your intuition in whatever way works for you.
What’s getting in the way of creating what you want? Is it a lack of belief? Fear? Circumstances like family and work and money? Physical, emotional, financial, or societal limitations? These are significant barriers, but not impossible to overcome. They just have to be recognized.
“From the moment we’re born, every single one of us receives societal programming: parental, media, peer. Very few of us have a true idea of what our authentic essence is and what it truly desires to thrive.” ― Lacy Phillips
When events in our life start aligning with our visions and desires - from privilege, manifestation, or a bit of both - it’s important to look at these shifts with gratitude and with compassion. How can we use our circumstances to elevate others? If something goes our way, how can we spread the benefits and joy to others? What would it mean for the world if we all practiced compassion?
Right now, there’s a lot I want to do and a lot I want to create. There are things that are missing from my life that I haven’t yet identified. So I’m being intentional – meditating on what I want to manifest in this life, thinking about what feels right and true to me, and determining what I need to do to make things happen. Above all I'm listening to and loving myself, practicing gratitude, and trusting in the flow.
