I’ve always found a lot of power in words. I’ve been a bookworm ever since I was a kid (shout out to The Babysitters Club), and still am most relaxed when curled up with a thick novel.
Words transport me, they teach me, and they heal me.
Sometimes all we need are 1–2 sentences to put everything in perspective. That’s why Instagram and Pinterest are flooded with pictures of quotes calligraphied over a serene background. That’s why millennials tattoo “breathe” and “peace” and “love” on our bodies.
That’s why whenever I start to feel the darkness take over and the world becoming grey and meaningless, I have an arsenal of words that can pull me back. They remind me how to live with joy and intention and grace. They teach me how to navigate life.
Words — the ones I put on paper, the ones friends send to me, and the ones I stumble across in my readings — help heal me.
Below are some of the words that have helped me get through these past few months and will continue to guide me on the road ahead. Each quote below has given me something to consider, to put forward, and to eventually shape my reality.
