I'm sick right now. The typical winter cold sick, with lots of sneezing and coughing and a running nose. The fever and aches are gone, leaving a lingering waterfall in my nose. Seriously, I don't know where all this liquid is coming from!
It's day four of this beast, and I've been doing my due diligence with soup and cold pressed juices and Yogi teas. But now it's after dinner, I'm watching Mad Man, my husband is out of town, and I just really want a glass of wine to wind down the night. Which seems like a bad life choice right now.
I Googled "drinking wine with a cold" and was pleasantly surprised by the results. While I should note that no actual medical sites condone alcohol when ill, The Daily Meal, The New York Times, and Daily Mail all laud red wine as a way to beat and/or prevent colds. "Resveratrol and polyphenols in red wine prevent cold and flu viruses from multiplying after they’ve entered your system." True?
I would love to get some more information on this, but for now, cheers. I'll see how I feel in the morning...
